{Fred Weiss photos.} The Eastside Culture Crawl is one of my favourite Vancouver traditions. Every year East Van's artists open their studio doors and let the public in. I'm really excited to attend the Crawl with my mom, who will be visiting that weekend. This year, my friend Fred will be opening his studio. His …
capilano suspension bridge.
This past weekend, Nick's parents wanted to visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The Bridge is a pretty well-known Vancouver tourist attraction and I had been to it on a high school band trip more than ten (eek!) years ago. I didn't remember it well and was a little bit skeptical about the whole thing, since …
on my way to …
Vancouver (from Victoria)! P.S. More 'On My Way To ...' posts, if you're so inclined.
victoria.
Nick and I had the most magical weekend in Victoria. We realized that we've been there five times together, but this weekend was magnificent! We ate some great food, drank some delicious whiskey and generally loved the city. Victoria might be my new favourite getaway from Vancouver. It's just a hop-skip-a-bus-a-train-a-bus-a-ferry-and-a-bus away!
steveston.
Dear Steveston, You are adorable and have delicious frozen yoghurt and fish and chips. Love, Kate
on my way to …
Steveston! On Saturday, I joined two Andreas on a bike ride to Steveston. It was a 35-kilometre round trip ride with some lovely and not-so-lovely scenery along the way. Photos of oh-so-cute Steveston, tomorrow.
denman island. {updated.}
When I was growing up, we spent quite a bit of time on Denman and Hornby Islands because my parents have a little piece of land on Denman. I hadn't been there since 1999 until this passed weekend. It was remarkable how much I remembered and how much the islands lived up to my memory. …
the vancouver seawall.
{View from near Granville Island.} One of my favourite parts of Vancouver is the seawall. It really beautiful and takes you through a lot of Vancouver's neighbourhoods. There are 22 kilometres of trail, including the walk around Stanley Park. You can bike it, walk it, run it, skateboard it ... you get the idea. It's …
gibsons on the sunshine coast.
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, we went on an awesome day trip to Gibsons this weekend, despite the overcast weather. It was an easy jaunt from Vancouver with delicious results. Matt, Shaz, Andrea, Peter, Nick and I daydreamed about starting a commune there on our walk from the ferry into town. Want to join …
friday in a strange week. {updated.}
{Vancouver from the Burrard Bridge, 2009.} Well, I've been a seriously sub par blogger this week! In my defense, it's been a very busy week with lots of freelance work on top of my 9 to 5 job, not that I'm complaining! Freelance work is always a good thing. There was also hockey to watch …
