450 degree oven, 12-15 mins baking time
- 2 cups white flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 Tablespoons sugar
- Margarine the size of 2 eggs (3/4 of a stick of unsalted butter or about 125 ml/1/2 cup)
- 1/3 cup of milk
- 1 egg, beaten (add to milk)
- black currants or raisins, about 1/4 cup but enough so that it looks right!
- Mix dry ingredients well.
- Rub in margarine; add fruit and egg/milk mixture. Work with fingers until combined but don’t over work.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet after rolling out to 1/2 inch thickness on floured board & cut into rounds or triangles.
- Bake at 450 degrees 10 to 15 minutes. Watch for the last 5 minutes as they brown-up quickly.
